Gardiner Leavitt, 78, proudly shows off a photo of himself driving in one of his first cars recently at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Maine. Leavitt's son, Steve, a leading NASCAR fabricator, restored the car in North Carolina. Gardiner and wife June have been active in the northeast racing community for more than 50 years, and had their Action Racing parts trailer at White Mountain on Saturday.
