Granite State Mini Sprints Announces 2010 Schedule

Open-wheel club to race five times at Bear Ridge

BEDFORD, N.H. -- The Granite State Mini Sprints Racing Club has released its 2010 schedule, with 16 events held at three tracks, including Vermont's Bear Ridge Speedway.

Bear Ridge, a 1/4-mile clay oval, will host the series five times -- on May 22, June 19, July 17, August 14, and September 11. Canaan Dirt Speedway in Canaan, N.H. will host the series five times, and the redesigned and renamed Big Daddy's Speedbowl in Rumney, N.H. (formerly Nor-Way Pines Speedway, Legion Speedway, and Rattlesnake Motordrome), will hold six events.

The GSMSRC is a two-division touring group feature scaled-down Sprint Cars, using 500cc and 600cc engines. Lacey Hanson, 21, of Orwell will aim for her third consecutive 500cc championship in 2010, while three-time 600cc champion Matt Robie will jump up to the SCoNE 360cid Sprint Cars. Terry Reil of Montpelier finished second in 600cc points in 2010.

Siemons Takes "Madness" Win at Bear Ridge

BRADFORD -- Gary Siemons of Orford, N.H. earned his third Sportsman Modified win of the season at Bradford's Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday night, after compiling the lowest three-round point total in the "Modified Madness" event.

Siemons won the first 23-lap segment, while Travis Shinn of Groton, N.H. and Bob Shepard of West Topsham copped the second and third rounds, respectively. In the overall finish, two-time defending Bear Ridge champion Siemons was the winner over Chris Donnelly of Piermont, N.H., Ryan Avery of Thornton, N.H., Shepard, and Wayne Stearns of Thetford Center.

Josh Harrington of Topsham posted his eighth Sportsman Coupe feature win of the season, defeating Bryan King of Topsham and Bradford rookie Billy Simmons. Dan Eastman of Thetford Center hit double digits with his 10th Limited Late Model win of the year, while Wilder's Andy Johnson took his fifth Fast Four win. Mark Harran of St. Johnsbury won his first Hornet feature of the season.

Matt Shuart of Walkill, N.Y. took his first SCoNE 360 Sprint Car victory, with Tunk Berry of Center Ossipee, N.H. second and Shawn Lawler of Mason, N.H. third. Berry also wrapped up the 2009 SCoNE championship with his finish. New Hampshire's Matt Robie won the Granite State Mini Sprint 600cc feature, and Lacey Hanson of Orwell won the 500cc race.
